Spirituality & HindutvaIndia is one of the oldest civilizations in the world. There were other great civilizations that existed along with us from pre-historic times. Every thing else died, perished. India still lives, her culture and civilization still exists. It is because when other cultures were centered around materialism, our culture was centered around spiritualism. When other civilizations believed in building forts, we believed in building temples. Our village life, culture, faith, everything centered around this temple structure. When other people searched for pleasure and luxury, we searched for philosophy, religion, spirituality.
That’s why 300 years of Moghul rule, 200 years of British slavery, 75 years of Communist ideology couldn’t destroy Indian spirituality, Sanatana Dharma. Our motherland’s spirituality is the heart beat of our nation. - Shaji Lekshmanan About the KUDUMBI.COM Author:

Selfish Desire: They live in wisdom who see themselves in all and all in them, who have renounced every selfish desire and sense craving tormenting the heart.
Neither agitated by grief nor hankering after pleasure, they live free from lust and fear and anger. Established in meditation, they are truly wise. Fettered no more by selfish attachments, they are neither elated by good fortune nor depressed by bad. Such are the seers. - Bhagavad Gita 2:55-57 |

History
Kudumbi is the language spoken by the people who are predominantly found in Goa and the stretch of land along the Arabian Sea on the western side of the Deccan Peninsula.Among all of the languages spoken in India, one which stirred the emotions of many, is the Kudumbi language.A remnant of the old "Saraswati" language of the Saraswat Brahmins, Kudumbi is the first modern Indo-Aryan language which evolved from the Prakrits and ApabhramsasThe development of this language leading to its present contoversies marks an important time period in the linguistic history of India. Kudumbi is the only subgroup to have retained the purest strain of Konkani.
In ancient times, the Saraswat Brahmins lived near the Saraswati River,a region of land which became known as the Saraswat Desha. At that time, the Sarswats emphasized the importance of correct pronunciation and grammer of sanskrit language in public. However, at home they spoke a vernacular form of Sanskrit which came to be known as Brahmani.Other names for this common spoken language are Brahmi,Bharati,Geervana and Saraswati. The prose form of this language became known as Basha. Thus, many referred to the spoken language of the Saraswats as Bal Saraswati,Bal Basha or Brahmani.
It is said that Parashurama asked the sea to recede as far back as he could throw an axe from Western Ghats.By receding the, the sea would offer Parashurama the land he wanted for the Saraswat Brahmins. Parashurama then filled the land with the Saraswat Brahmins of the kingdom. This land, west of the Sahyadri mountain, was commonly called Kona, meaning a safe corner,or Ankana, a demarcated area. Thus, this region became known as Konkana (Goa) and the language of the Saraswat Brahmins who populated this area became known as Konkani Kudumbi.

On February 26,1510 , Goa was conquered by the Portuguese commander Albuquerque.Goa was named the capitol of the Portuguese empire in the East. However, the Portuguese kings began to terrorize the Hindus of Goa.Therefore, many Saraswat Brahmins left Goa for Maharastra, Kerala and Karnataka. The Portuguese conquest severely confined the development of Kudumbi literature and the spoken language. They began to proselytize the Hindus to Christians, they burnt all documents containing Hindu beliefs.
They ordered that the temples and any literature containing doctrines be burnt in order to force the Hindus to convert to Christianity. In 1864, the Portuguese rulers also passed an ordiance outlawing the use of the Kudumbi language by the people of Goa.As a result many Saraswats Brahmins fled from Goa.However, when they fled to Maharastra, Karnataka and Kerala, they decided that it would be better to perfect themselves in the languages of these states.
A set of Saraswat Brahmins set sail to Kerala by boat and landed in Cochin. The ruler of Cochin welcomed them.Much vocabulary from Malayalam has been inserted into the Kudumbi language of the Saraswat Brahmins who migrated to Kerala.Soon they were employed as ministers and generals. They were known as Kudumbis.
Unfortunately, the Kudumbi community receded over the years. Our community bearly recognized it's divine language. For most the younger generations in Kerala, the Kudumbi language is a history. The social factors have led to the decline of this beautiful language, is reduced to servitude, it can become or rather can be shown to be a beautiful language, if taken pity on it, we deliver it from slavery. Please revive our beautiful language. It's all in our hands .......Timeline
